A floor crew employee at a regional Alabama airport was killed on Saturday by being sucked into the engine of a parked airplane.
The airplane, an Embraer 170, was parked on the gate with its engine operating after arriving from Dallas. The flight had been operated by Envoy Air, which is a subsidiary of American Airways. The one that died was an worker of Piedmont Airways, a regional airline additionally owned by American Airways.
Montgomery Regional Airport said in its own statement that it was “saddened to listen to concerning the tragic lack of a workforce member.”
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
